Palestinian prisoner suffers memory loss in Israeli jail

The family of Palestinian prisoner Mansour al-Shahatit, from Dura town in al-Khalil, said that its son is suffering from memory loss as a result of his exposure to torture and isolation in an Israeli jail.

The mother of prisoner Shahatit said that her son was not able to recognize her during the last visit and appeared to suffer from speech and eyesight problems, adding that her son had already suffered from irregular heart rate, a fractured leg and respiratory problems during his presence in detention.

She asserted that the physical condition of her son was good and he did not suffer from any health problems before his imprisonment.

The mother of Shahatit held the Israeli prison authority fully responsible for the life of her son and appealed to human rights groups to pressure the Israeli side to urgently provide him with appropriate medical care.
